To attend one of these courses you need to have attended one of the Introductory Courses or done previous shamanic training with Paul Francis or Jayne Anderson, or attended an equivalent course run by another shamanic practitioner/training. If you are not sure, please do contact us.

Therapeutic Shamanism: Shamanic Counselling and Working in Altered States

October 25th and 26th in Lancaster

This experiential course covers the core skills of Therapeutic Shamanism. In the course we move on from the more traditional core shamanic skills, and begin to explore shamanism's overlap with psychotherapy.

The course will enable you to...

find out how energy is held in the bodyhave a toolkit for exploring your own symptoms, and help others to explore theirs discover what symptoms really mean; learn how to uncover their often surprising and profound messagesdiscover how to work with others not as a dis-empowerer or rescuer, but as an empowerer and enablerlearn how to move freely and at will between ordinary and shamanic realitieslearn how to have one foot in this world and one in the 'other'; to walk between the worldsdiscover how to enter into another’s journey, and be a companion on their voyagelearn to notice and pay attention to subtle messages and clues; to become much more aware and awakework creatively with yourself and others in different mediums - imagery, sound, movement, sensations, smell and tastelearn how to work with otherwise inaccessible material by using archetypes and metaphorslearn to flow between the ordinary and the extra-ordinary, between the personal and the transpersonal, and cultivate a grounded spiritual practiceexplore how to use these tools to cultivate self-awareness

Please note: attendance of one of these courses is a requirement for attending the advanced courses.

Cost: £120. Early bird discounted cost is £100, for bookings recieved by August 31st 2008.

The course is held in the centre of Lancaster. Lancaster is an attractive, historical city. It is close to the M6 motorway, and on the west coast main rail line. It is only an hour from Manchester, and a couple of hours from both Liverpool and Leeds. London is just over three and a half hours by train, Edinburgh two and a half hours. There is inexpensive B&B accommodation in the centre of town.
